The woman gave birth to twins nine months after having intercourse with two men on the same day.

This woman’s conception is one in a million.

A 19-year-old woman gave birth to twins, but their biological fathers are different.

Although this event is staggering, it is entirely possible.

This is known as heteropaternal superfertilization, which occurs when a second egg released during the menstrual cycle is fertilized by sperm from a different man during separate intercourse , according to the journal Biomedica.

This phenomenon was originally presented by Archer in 1810. “Although rare in humans, heteropaternal superfertilization is common in dogs, cats and cows,” states a report from The Guardian.

Two scenarios can be explained here: first, a woman can release two eggs at the same time.

Since sperm can survive for a few days, it would be possible to have intercourse with an expectant father before the egg is released and another just after ovulation.

In the second scenario, the woman releases two eggs a few days apart but in the same reproductive cycle.

According to the media, only 20 other such cases have been reported so far.

Nine months after having sex with two men on the same day, the woman gave birth to twins.

The unnamed 19-year-old, from Minerios in Goias, Brazil, explained that she took a paternity test because she wanted to confirm who the father was, the Daily Mail reported.

How did she find out?

She decided to take a paternity test to validate her suspicions as their first birthday approached as she began questioning their father.

The woman considered a man to be the father, so she collected his DNA.

However, only one child’s DNA was matched.

The mother, in conversation with Globo, said: “I remembered I had sex with another man and called him to take the test, which was positive.

” She added: “I was surprised by the results. I had no idea this could happen. They are very similar.

The woman’s doctor, Dr Tulio Franco, said it was possible this could happen when two eggs from the same mother are fertilized by different males.

The doctor added that the children have the same genetic structure as their mother.

He said he never expected to see a circumstance like this in his lifetime, in which there are only 20 other events in the world.

The mother said that only one of the fathers is currently responsible for raising the 16-month-old children.
